Dear Dr. Rossi,

do you plan to implement an interface for home automation? Like http://www.knx.org/ That would be nice and a worth feature. Many producers of heating systems have that in their portfolio. However I can understand it if you first concentrate on the necessary functions.

Very good that people can recharge the “kitty” them self! Is it possible to have charges on stock at home or do you plan to just sell one charge each time?

Dear Andrea Rossi

On 5th Jan you mentioned that the E-Cat home will be available in August 2012 to everyone in the world through a network of licensees. Does this mean you are already in the process of getting EU certification for the e-cat home? I ask because if I receive the ecats home which I pre-ordered will I have problems with using it in the UK and possibly my summer home in France.

Dear Keith W: We are making the certification . Attention: I did not say that we will begin to deliver in August, I said we can be ready to make order confirmations in Autumn; we are right now making the engineerization of the factory ( the production will be completely robotized to squeeze down the price as much as possible) and, even if we will be very good, the first deliveries will start perhaps within the year, but I cannot promise it; I can say that the price will be lower than expected and that it will be a revolution. I didn’t get an answer to my questions (Jan 6 @ 11:44 AM): (I’ll reword a little and hopefully they not stupid questions)

(to keep it less confusing I suggest that the first generation domestic E-Cat be named H-Cat and then use the E-Cat name for the second generation add-on unit that produces electrical power)

1. If my home requires 5kWh for heating or cooling at night will the “H-Cat” only need half the electric power to run than it does when running at 10kW?

2. If you set the “H-Cat” output water temp to < 120°F (<50°C) will it be able to run in self-sustain mode continuously after it’s powered up without further electrical input for 6 months?

3. Do you think the electrical power the future E-Cat will generate could to be stored into batteries like solar powered system do for those of us that want an off the grid home in case of long power outages?

Dear TH-minneapolis: Your questions are absolutely not stupid, I just missed them, sorry… here are the answers: 1- The excess heat will be regulated. It will be precious for cooling and for electric power, when ready 2- the COP will always be 6 3- if you will have an excess of production, that can be a solution, but there are many others, depending on the specific situations: we will give free consulting to our Customers for this issue. * As usual, I will respond in any order and unfortunately only a limited part of the questions, some really useful for the development of our experiments: I thank the authors of posts in advance.

* In the next 6 days I will be busy in Geneva, so do not bother anymore.

A) Our input power was above 90-160W.

A1) Currently, since we obtained experimental evidence of the phenomenon of the NTC (negative temperature coefficient of resistivity) apparently correlated with unexpected energy source, the input power has been off-road reduced to the current 50-60W.

B) I remember that metals usually act as PTC, that is, their resistivity increases with increasing temperature.

B1) do NOT have a kind of “negative dynamic resistance”, as discovered in the late 60s by Nobel laureate Leo Esaki (Japanese): TUNNEL DIODE.
